Towngate Personnel are currently working with a stunning boutique Hotel situated near to Windermere in Cumbria.

The Hotel has around 30 bedrooms, a 50 cover fine dining restaurant, and is a picture perfect location for leisure guests looking to explore the area.

The Hotel is busy with afternoon teas and light bites in the day and then in the evening the restaurant is averaging around 40 covers a night.

We are looking for a sous chef to help manage a team of 8, you will help with the day to day running of the operation and will help motivate and lead the team to ensure all food leaves the kitchen to the required standard.

Ideal candidates for the role:

  • Will have experience as a sous chef within a high quality Hotel or Restaurant
  • You will have experience cooking to a 2AA rosette level
  • You will have an exceptionally high attention to detail
  • You will be calm under pressure
  • You will have experience managing a kitchen, maintaining equipment, managing stock and completing necessary health and safety paperwork 

Typical duties will include:

  • Overseeing the team in the absence of the head chef
  • Ensuring recipes are followed
  • Ensuring the kitchen is well maintained
  • Helping to train and develop junior members of the team
  • Ordering from suppliers
  • Helping to keep wastage to a minimum
